The Vunilagi Bookclub Fellows Program is an opportunity for scholars, educators, professionals, and social organisations to engage meaningfully in advancing children’s literacy and learning in Fiji.
We welcome partnerships with academic institutions, community groups, and organisations who share our commitment to promoting reading, storytelling, and educational empowerment. Fellows contribute to our work through a structured exchange, sharing their skills, research interests, and teaching approaches while learning from local communities and volunteers.
The program is grounded in the belief that learning is a two-way journey. Through fellowship placements, participants gain cultural insight and field experience in early literacy engagement, while Vunilagi communities benefit from diverse perspectives and pedagogical approaches. This mutual exchange fosters collaboration, respect, and innovation in how we nurture children’s love of reading. We encourage fellows to participate in a minimum engagement of four weeks, allowing adequate time to contribute to reading sessions, support program design, and build relationships within the community.
Because our programs involve direct engagement with children, mandatory security and background checks are required for all fellows and volunteers. These clearances must be obtained prior to arrival in Fiji and made available upon request at the time of engagement.
Vunilagi Bookclub is committed to sustaining these exchanges through ongoing partnerships with universities, development programs, and civic organisations. Each fellowship represents not only a contribution to local literacy development but also a long-term investment in global understanding and shared learning.
